At the heart of the regions and valleys
The valleys have helped to forge SHEM’s identity. SHEM is proud to help sustain the identity of the valleys in which it is established.
Regional roots
For the last 100 years we have had a role in developing the valleys and their surrounding areas and have been keen to integrate well into this magnificent natural landscape. We share closely in the concerns and values of our local partners.
As a leading economic player in the region, SHEM has a dynamic investment policy. We work closely with the local and regional authorities over the running of our power stations, the commissioning of new installations and the services provided to mountain and valley communities.
As a direct employer, SHEM also provides work to the local firms that it uses (maintenance of surrounding areas, civil engineering, facility maintenance).
It thereby contributes towards the life of all the businesses and human activities in these regions.
SHEM is established deep in the heart of the regions and valleys, and shows its attachment by taking part in local life :
- Culture and traditions: "Les Pastorales" in Béarn and Haute Soule, the Cheese Festival in Laruns, "Heritage Days", etc.
- Sports and associations: The "Ronda de la Carança" (Têt Valley), local sports events (support for rugby and Basque pelota clubs, etc.), and a member of the Stade Toulousain partners’ club.
- Tourism : The Artouste "Petit Train", "La Verna", Midi-Pyrénées Nature Days, taking part in the development of ski resorts, etc.
