People and safety

People and safety

Safety is an absolute requirement in the hydroelectricity sector. Protecting populations living close to our facilities and ensuring that our employees have a safe place in which to work are day-to-day priorities for SHEM.

Downstream risk

To prevent the downstream risks of its developments, SHEM has increased its warning procedures in the form of signboards and information brochures.

The general public is constantly asked to take care downstream of dams and power stations due to the variations in the water flow rate.

The beauty of the surrounding countryside should not blind walkers and fishermen to the dangers of walking out into the bed of a river, or on to the islands and gravel banks close to our facilities, even if they are good swimmers.

Health and safety at work

SHEM is keen to achieve excellence in terms of the safety of its facilities and its employees, and has introduced a Safety Management System (Safety Policy and Programme, safety visits, Single Document, prevention of occupational accidents, electrical instructions, etc.).

Prevention, training and involvement at all levels of the company are key priorities for SHEM.
